KLOI is owned and operated by GIVE (Gathering Island Voices and Expressions) the sponsoring non profit organization, a Board of Directors and countless volunteers. We began broadcasting live in April 2008.
Our Mission Statement
KLOI, produced by GIVE (Gathering Island Voices and Expressions), will enhance the sense of identity and community on Lopez Island by encouraging compassionate discourse on community issues. Provide access to local and global music, progressive, alternative news, and public affairs. Provide a venue for education, creative expression and exploration of ideas. Provide a communication clearing house and rally point keeping our community safe and connected to one another in the event of a national, regional, economic, or natural emergency.
Our facilities
Our Low Power FM station serves Lopez Island, Washington. We operate on 18 watts ERP (the maximum the FCC allows us) at 102.9 FM broadcasting and webcasting from Center Road in the middle of the island. We have a small studio that allows one or two people to produce live or prerecorded shows. When we are not broadcasting live shows we have an automation system that schedules prerecorded shows and fills the gaps with selections from our extensive music library.
